The Horta

General Information

Horta is a 60’ steel schooner built in 1992 in Holland. She is a safe, comfortable, spacious ocean going cruising ship.

She has a total sail area of 150 square meters divided over 5 sails and 2 masts. The mechanical propulsion is a 125 hp 6-cylinder diesel engine. There is also a 5kw generator on board.

Horta carries 1,750 liters of fuel and 450 liters of water. Horta is equipped with a water maker, hot and cold running water, refrigerator, deep freezer, stove and oven, and a washing machine.

The electrical system is 110 volt and 220 volt so you can recharge your camera, electric razor, and if you are so inclined while in paradise, use your hair dryer.

The wheel house: This has a comfortable cushioned U-shaped seating area that is large enough to seat 8 for meals. The wheel house is surrounded with windows enabling a 360° view. From the sliding doors on both sides of Horta, and the windows fore and aft, any direction the pleasant tropical breezes are blowing, blow through the wheel house.

Below deck: Port side is the guest’s bathroom; moving forward is the main cabin and kitchen and a breakfast booth.  Here is also the guest cabin with a queen bed.

Far forward is the second guest/children cabin.

Aft is the owner / master stateroom with optimal privacy. This master stateroom has its  own in-suite private bathroom. There is a built-in sleeping loft that can accommodate a child in this stateroom.

The master stateroom can be rented for a extra fee.

 

Top deck: This is completely flat and unhindered thus enabling optimal use of the entire deck space. At anchor a sun shade is hung from mast to mast so you can enjoy shaded comfort while seated at your patio table.  Enjoy a cool drink, the warm breeze, and the spectacular tropical scenery.
